Toronto ZOO!

Yesterday, groups of students and staff were heading to the Toronto ZOO (3rd biggest zoo in the world), which is out of town. We enjoyed viewing animals that we were unfimilar with and learning about their habitat and interesting facts.  We had the oppertunity to pet Stringrays and they felt JELLO-y.

» Comment Challenge

  • How often do you comment on other blogs during a typical week?
  • reponse:
I usually blog on fimilar peoples blogs which would be typical people I know in class.  I tend to make a post when I feel the person needs a shout-out for work well done! Very rarly I post a comment that does not match with  the published work. So overal I would say that I post occasionaly, around 2-3 posts weekly. When I descide to browse around…

  • Do you track your blog comments? How? What do you do with your tracking?
  • response:
I dont track my comments, Mr Millward our teacher tracks them, usually to see if were posting appropriate stuff and ect…

  • Do you tend to comment at the same blogs or do you try to comment on at least one new blog per week?
  • response:
I think I try to comment on at least one per week, cause it usually gets boring if you tend to comment on a certain persons blog all the time. Unless they regularly update it.

Facebook VS Myspace * my opinions

           VS

These days theres international networking tools to keep up with long-distance friends/family, or just haveing acess to something that keeps you update and communicated with friends/family. Well I’m trying to determine the Best online program that offers more when keeping communicated based on the applications and things on it. Lets begin with pointing the pros of facebook: Facebook originally came out in February of 2004, so we know its “newer” than myspace. Facebook contains MILLIONS of applications that you can add to your profile or join various groups: example if you’re a fan of ”chocolate milk”- there would usually contain a fan page, if not you can personally make one and thousands of people would have the choice of becoming a fan as well. Facebook contains an updated “chat” poll at the right corner, that chat poll is considered a new feature as well as the new layout. The layout changed a year later after the launch many didnt prefer it, but Im sure people have adapted to it. Speaking of layouts there is one plain layout through out ”facebook.” But myspace allows you to personalize you’re main page with HMTL codes which you have to acess various sites to pick a layout. I consider that a PRO because you can display the real you and be unique rather than starring at a “blue and white” screen. The majority of people would consider myspace layouts a CON cause people usually cram alot of unnessisary stuff on there and it abstracts from their information and interesting stuff. Lets get our focus back on facebook. On facebook you’re able to create albums and tags, myspace only has the section of “Profile pictures.” Facebook is more commonly used, But Myspace is considered a more “international program” considering they have specialized 29 languages for 25 different country’s, as for facebook it only has the option of four languages they include: English, Spanish, French and German. Apprently Myspace had a leading total of 109.3 visitors and facebook had 100.7 million visitors but that was previously when it all began. I would say that Facebook is more commonly used now than Myspace. And for the certain fact that there is less reoports of  peadophiles on facebook, well that is a little bonus to our safety and safety comes first. Speaking of safety although facebook doesnt have an adjustable layout it has a VERY adjustable “settings” template. Things such as “search security, and the option of picking certain networks such as highschool and business ect is very important.
There are alot of pros and cons and obviously the list goes on…
But from what I experience from both networks I would have to say facebook dominates!
    I have various information to back up both myspace and facebook;
but facebook gives you a clean format, which also simplifies it in many ways..

so Congrads facebook on my behalf (:

    Happy Birthday Mr Millward! (:

Today, May/21/09 was Mr Millwards birthday!
I arrived to the classroom with little knowledge of it being his birthday. I noticed the decorations displayed around the room like the “happy birthday” streamers. He is currently 42, haha what a wise age. So I would just like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mr. Millward!

    »ClusterMap’s

My Homeroom teacher Mr.M, previously introduced us to “Cluster Maps.” I though they were really neat and unoridinary, considering there are so many people acessing the internet and viewing our blogs. This time we actually get to view from what area around the world people are browsing our webs from. I think thats amazing, and more advanced then the “hits/counter” because they only count upon how many people come upon your site. But Cluster Maps offer more!
What do you think ? (:

» Eva Olsson retells her past!

Yesterday, a very important historic person came to our school by the name: Eva Olsson. She was in the holocaust, at that point I felt special to be in the same room with her. She began her story with explaining the word and the meaning of “hate.” And clearly made the point that no one really hates anything, they essentially “dislike.” Through out the whole assemble I felt rather sad, and couldn’t possibly imagine half the things she described to us in detail. For example, the way they were treated-it was inhuman, harsh conditions many were put through (fevers, starvation, ect), the various concentration camps (she rotated from four)! Her motto through out this devastating war was “never giving up,” and that’s why at that very current moment she was standing there. She is an amazing person that was a survival to the unbelievable!
